Replace Supply Lines Every 8-10 Years
Even if supply lines look fine externally, the internal polymer tube degrades. A burst supply line is one of the most common causes of residential water damage, and it happens without warning. Check the date stamp when doing any under-sink or toilet work.
Valve Upgrade: Gate to Quarter-Turn
If your home has old multi-turn gate valves, upgrade them to quarter-turn ball valves whenever doing nearby plumbing work. Gate valves seize after years of inactivity and may not shut off in an emergency. Quarter-turn valves operate with a single 90-degree lever turn and rarely seize.
